At OrthoMiami we are committed to providing accessible and high-quality healthcare services to our patients. We understand that navigating the world of medical insurance can be complex and sometimes challenging. We accept all major medical insurance plans – Aetna, AvMed, Blue Cross, Cigna, Medicare, United Healthcare, PIP, and Worker’s Compensation.  When you schedule an appointment with us, our team will review your insurance coverage to verify we are providers.

For an efficient experience during your first appointment at OrthoMiami, we kindly ask that you come prepared with a few important documents.

Insurance Card: Please bring your current and valid insurance card with you to your appointment. This card contains essential details about your insurance coverage, which allows us to bill your insurance company correctly for the services you receive.

Photo Identification: We request a photo identification, such as a driver’s license, passport, or other government-issued ID. This helps us confirm your identity and maintain accurate records in our system.

Diagnostic Studies and Reports: If you have undergone any relevant diagnostic tests, procedures, or imaging studies (such as X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, or lab tests) before your appointment, please bring along the reports and images. These documents provide valuable insights into your medical history and assist our medical team in delivering the best care tailored to your needs.

At OrthoMiami, we are dedicated to making your experience with us as convenient and efficient as possible. That’s why we’re excited to offer you the option to create an online account through our patient portal before your first appointment.

Our patient portal is a secure and user-friendly platform that allows you to input and manage your medical information. By taking advantage of this online tool, you can save time during your in-person visit and allows you to have accurate and up-to-date access of your medical records.

Access the Portal: You’ll receive an email from us with instructions on how to access the patient portal. Simply follow the link provided in the email to create your account.

At OrthoMiami, we strive to provide you with the best possible care and treatment for your orthopedic needs. Here’s a breakdown of what a typical appointment at our office might look like:

  1. Check-In: When you arrive at our office, our friendly front desk staff will greet you and assist you with the check-in process. Please have your insurance card, photo identification, and any relevant medical documents ready.
  2. X-ray: This will typically be one of the first steps. Our skilled radiology team will guide you through the process, ensuring that you’re comfortable and informed throughout.
  3. Medical Assistant Interview: After the imaging, you’ll be guided to a medical assistant who will take your medical history and discuss the reason for your visit. This conversation helps us understand your current condition, any symptoms you’re experiencing, and any relevant medical history. Feel free to share any concerns or questions you have during this conversation.
  4. Physical Evaluation by Doctor: Following the medical assistant interview, you’ll meet with one of our experienced orthopedic doctors. They will perform a thorough physical evaluation, examining the affected area and assessing your overall musculoskeletal health. This step is crucial in identifying the root cause of your symptoms.
  5. Additional Diagnostic Ultrasound Study: In some cases, further diagnostic studies might be required to get a more detailed view of your condition. If an ultrasound study is necessary, we will explain the procedure and its purpose to you. Our trained specialists will perform the ultrasound to provide valuable insights into your condition.
  6. Diagnosis and Treatment Plan: After your physical evaluation and any additional studies, the doctor will discuss their findings with you. They will provide a diagnosis, explaining the underlying issue causing your symptoms. Based on this diagnosis, the doctor will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. This plan may include a combination of various treatments, such as physical therapy, medications, injections, or, in some cases, surgery.
  7. Questions and Discussion: Throughout the appointment, we encourage you to ask questions and engage in a discussion with your doctor. We want you to fully understand your condition and treatment options, as well as any potential risks or benefits.

At OrthoMiami, our primary focus is on providing you with the most effective and appropriate treatment for your orthopedic condition. We understand that facing an orthopedic injury or issue can be concerning, and we want to assure you that surgery is not always the first or only option on the table.

It’s important to know that the majority of orthopedic injuries and conditions can be effectively managed without the need for surgery. Our orthopedic surgeons and medical team are dedicated to exploring and exhaustively considering all available non-surgical treatment options before recommending surgical intervention.

During your appointment, our experienced orthopedic surgeon will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your condition. This includes a thorough examination, a review of any imaging or diagnostic studies, and a detailed discussion with you about your symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. Based on this information, the surgeon will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your needs and preferences.

Non-surgical treatments may include:

Physical Therapy: Customized exercises and therapies designed to strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and promote healing.

Medications: Prescription or over-the-counter medications to manage pain, inflammation, and other symptoms.

Injections: Targeted injections of medications or substances to alleviate pain and inflammation in specific areas.

Bracing or Splinting: Devices that provide support and stability to injured areas while they heal.

Lifestyle Modifications: Recommendations for changes in activities, ergonomics, or habits that contribute to your condition.

Regenerative Therapies: Innovative treatments that encourage tissue repair and regeneration.

Orthopedic surgery is focused on diagnosing, treating, and preventing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. These conditions primarily involve the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and other related structures that support and enable movement within the body.

Orthopedic surgery addresses both traumatic injuries and chronic conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system. The main goal of orthopedic surgery is to alleviate pain, restore function, improve mobility, and enhance the overall quality of life for patients. While surgery is sometimes necessary, many orthopedic conditions can be effectively managed through non-surgical treatments, such as physical therapy, medications, and lifestyle modifications.

Some common orthopedic conditions that OrthoMiami can treat include:

Joint Conditions: Orthopedic surgeons address conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other degenerative joint diseases through joint replacement surgeries, such as hip, knee, and shoulder replacements.

Sports Injuries: Surgical interventions can treat sports-related injuries like torn ligaments (ACL, MCL), meniscus tears, and rotator cuff tears, allowing athletes to return to their chosen activities.

Tendon and Ligament Injuries: Surgery can repair or reconstruct damaged tendons and ligaments, such as in cases of Achilles tendon rupture or torn ligaments in the hand and wrist.

Trauma and Acute Injuries: Orthopedic surgery can address traumatic injuries resulting from accidents, falls, or other incidents, including fractures, dislocations, and complex trauma cases.

Foot and Ankle Conditions: Orthopedic surgeons can address conditions like bunions, hammertoes, and ankle instability through surgical interventions.

When you call to make an appointment at OrthoMiami, our goal is to ensure that your visit is as smooth and effective as possible. To assist you best, our staff will ask a few important questions. This allows us to provide you with the right care, understand your insurance coverage, and set you up for a successful visit.

Condition and Treatment: We’ll begin by discussing the reason for your appointment. Our aim is to make sure that we have the expertise and resources to address your specific condition effectively. This helps us match you with the most suitable medical provider and treatment options.

Insurance Coverage: We’ll ask about your insurance provider to verify if we are in-network and able to provide you with covered services. Our goal is to make sure you’re well-informed about your insurance benefits and any potential costs associated with your visit.

Demographic Information: To create or update your patient record, we’ll ask for your demographic information. This includes your name, date of birth, address, contact number, and an email address. Having your email is crucial for setting up your patient portal account, where you can access important medical information and appointments.

Appointment Availability: After ensuring we have all the necessary information, we’ll work with you to find a suitable appointment time. Our scheduling team will check our availability and present you with options that fit your schedule. We’ll do our best to accommodate your preferences.
